What Can You Do To Control Your Energy Bill?

As we move into colder weather, remember that two factors impact your bill - the price of energy and the amount of energy you use. And weather is a major factor in determining how much energy you use. The colder the temperature, the more energy you use to heat your home.
You might want to consider buying your electricity or gas from a third-party supplier at a fixed rate. But whatever your energy source, you can help control your bill by preparing your home for winter.

Have your heating system inspected and tuned up for maximum efficiency.
Caulk and weatherstrip any holes, cracks or crevices around the foundation, windows, doors, and any other openings.
Tighten loose windowpanes with new glazing, and consider storm windows or plastic film over single pane windows.
Check your attic for adequate insulation and weatherstrip edges of the attic opening.
